Officials from the Tourism Association admitted that a large number of international tourists have become reluctant to travel to Bali due to the Indonesian quarantine policy.
The Head of the Bali Tour Guide Association, I Nyoman Nuarta confirmed that the majority of potential visitors from selected countries such as Japan, China and South Korea decided to cancel their trip to the island due to the long quarantine time upon their arrivals. “Despite having approximately 300,000 potential visitors from all around the world, most travelers decided to cancel their trip due to the 8 days quarantine policy.” Nuarta said on Wednesday (6/10).
Nuarta explained that Bali is expected to receive more visitors if the central government reduces the quarantine time for international travelers. “If the government reduced the quarantine time to a maximum of 2 days, I’m sure that a lot of tourists who have been waiting for the border to reopen would be happy to start traveling to Bali again. Especially those who have regularly visited the island prior to the pandemic.” Nuarta added.
He also urges the government to implement a policy that meets the market’s interest. “With this policy, visitors from China, Japan and South Korea who usually spend less than a week in Bali would have no chance to enjoy their vacation on the island. So I propose the government reconsider this regulation with strict entry requirements such as testing negative from Covid-19 and a vaccine certificate.” Nuarta concluded.
Meanwhile he also ensured the government that the majority of Bali tourism workers have prepared to receive international travelers as 90% of them have completed Covid-19 vaccinations.
