The central government through the Indonesian President has officially announced that the implementation of the emergency partial lockdown has been extended for 5 more days.
The Indonesian President. Joko Widodo (Jokowi) confirmed that the partial lockdown that was supposed to end on the 20th of July, has been extended until the 25th of July 2021. “After observing and listening to suggestions from the citizens, we plan to partially revoke all these restrictions on the 26th of July 2021 if Covid-19 transmissions are successfully reduced.” Jokowi said on Tuesday (20/7). Jokowi explained that the government has decided to give some leniency that will be announced by each provincial government during the extended partial lockdown.
Meanwhile Bali Governor, I Wayan Koster has issued a new decree that announced some new policies during the extended partial lockdown such as :
– grocery store and traditional markets are allowed to operate with 50% of the capacity until 8:00pm
– non essential businesses are allowed to operate with 25% of capacity until 9:00pm
– the governor has revoked the policy to turn off all public street lights during the lockdown
– street vendors are allowed to operate until 9:00pm while providing take-away service only
However, the president hasn’t announced any changes on the travel restrictions that started when the emergency partial lockdown was implemented on the 3rd of July 2021 as The Bali Sun has previously reported.
