The Head of the Bali Tourism Agency, Putu Astawa said that Bali began to record an increase of domestic visitors since the central government gave some leniency for both tourist attractions and tourism businesses to start operating under strict prevention protocols and by implementing a level 3 partial lockdown, as Covid-19 transmissions have significantly reduced on the island.

“According to data from the Bali Ngurah Rai Airport, the average arrivals per day is around 4,300 people. So we have had quite an increase in comparison with data collected in June and July where the average daily arrivals were around only 800 people.” Astawa said on Wednesday (22/9). He also explained that the majority of domestic travelers were concentrated in the southern parts of the island.

“Kuta, Legian and Pandawa Beach are still the most favorite destinations for domestic visitors.” Astawa added. Astawa hopes that the situation will keep on getting better, so Bali’s economy can recover from the current financial crisis. The tourism sector in Bali has received the biggest impact from the Covid-19 pandemic. “Before the delta variant of Covid-19 began to spread, we used to receive around 13,000 domestic visitors, so we expect more tourists to come in the near future as Covid-19 transmissions have been handled as they should be.” Astawa concluded.
