1. St Tropez – reopening in April 2024!
Escape to the French Riviera at St Tropez in Canggu, where Mediterranean-inspired dining meets oceanfront party vibes. Located right by Berawa Beach within the ever-famous FINNS Beach Club, St Tropez is where you can turn up at noon for a charming al fresco lunch by the sea, then stick around until sunset for live entertainment, a buzzing social scene and incredible cocktails. Start with a plate of oysters and share-style starters, like the flamed burrata, garlic snails and the beef tartare, before loading up on roasted pork belly, mussels mariniere, or one of the giant seafood platters. 2. La Lucciola – Seminyak
Seminyak’s original, simplest and possibly most-loved beachfront institution, La Lucciola on the Seminyak coastline is a little bit of ‘old-Bali’ in the best way possible – before high-tech and high-stylin’ took over. It’s potentially Seminyak’s only place with no Wi-Fi, just like Bali used to be, and you’ll regularly spot the island’s long-time expats here, tucking into the Mediterranean fare and huge selection of wines. It’s impossible not to love “La Looch”, with its always amazing service, legendary food and those excellent beach views.

3. Kelly’s Warung – Bingin
Tucked away at the bottom of the cliffs on Bingin Beach, Kelly’s is something of an institution in Uluwatu. Overlooking the famous waves out front and with steps that go right down onto the sand, there are few better places to while away a lazy Bingin day. The food is simple, healthy and hearty, with a refreshing drinks list and some of the coldest beers around. Try the colourful Pitaya Bowl for brekkie, and the generous wraps for a post-surf lunch. 4. Seasalt
True to its name (and its beachfront address), Seasalt is Seminyak’s ocean-and-salt-inspired restaurant that we’ve fallen head over flip flops for. It’s located right on the coastline at Alila Seminyak, with endless ocean views and an ever-present sea breeze as company. Beachy, chic and also home to one of our fave Sunday brunches in Bali, this fabulously fresh seaside restaurant is a must-try, with sublime Japanese-infused dishes. 6. KU DE TA
One of the true Bali originals, KU DE TA continues to wow the crowds with its beachfront perch, great tunes and delish food to boot. Simple, tasteful and elegant, this famous beach club and restaurant is quite simply unmissable. 7. Ijen
Set inside Bali’s most progressive beach club, Ijen at Potato Head is Indonesia’s first ever restaurant that follows a zero-waste philosophy. But that’s not all. Their ocean-fresh seafood is simply sublime, caught locally using a hand-reeling process and classically grilled over an open fire. The menus here are all printed on sustainably harvested paper and recycled truck tyres, the furniture is made from foam offcuts and recycled wood, and the floor is poured from a mix of broken plates, glasses and cement. It’s a remarkable space, with equally exceptional dishes, like grilled octopus served with salted chilli, kombu noodle and spring onion relish. This is guilt-free feasting at its best.

8. The Lawn
With its front-row seats to Canggu’s world-famous waves, a shimmering infinity pool nudging the black sands and crowds of beautiful people lounging beneath boho umbrellas, oceanfront grazing doesn’t get much better than at The Lawn – and that’s before we’ve even mentioned the food. The menu at this ultra-chill beach club is all about sharing and gourmet nibbling, from the lobster nachos to the chorizo cavatelli – you could happily munch your way through the entire menu here while lapping up the laid-back, island vibes. And with a stylish list of infused cocktails to wash it all down, the grass really is greener at The Lawn – especially when golden hour comes around. 9. Skool Kitchen
Sitting right above The Lawn and overlooking the waves, Skool Kitchen is one of the hottest beachfront restaurants in Bali where every dish is touched by fire. A primitive style of cooking meets contemporary culinary excellence here, with its honest modern menu powered by natural wood and charcoal embers. Try the wood-fired octopus with salsa verde, or the cold-smoked beetroot with straciatella and hibiscus. 10. Times Beach Warung
Toes-in-the-sand vibes meet sublime food and cocktails at Times Beach Warung – Canggu’s open-air beachfront cafe and restaurant by the same peeps who gave us The Lawn. By day, graze on yummy brekkie and brunch staples (smashed avo and eggs benedict, we’re lookin’ at you), and by night, swap and share the beach snacks and bites alongside a few rounds of cold beers and shaken or stirred signatures. Unsurprisingly so, golden hour is when the good times really ramp up at this shabby-chic seaside destination…

11. La Brisa
From the same family as La Laguna, La Favela and La Plancha, La Brisa is the quirky-yet-cool destination from the “La” family, and the coolest boho-beanbag beach club on Echo Beach in Canggu. Best enjoyed sans sandals and with a long drink in hand, La Brisa is a bohemian hub of rustic Spanish cooking (hello charred octopus and tomato burrata salad!), delish cocktails, multiple swimming pools and a hot soundtrack to top it all off.

12. Ji Terrace by the Sea
Asian-fusion bites, boho-chic vibes and the crème de la crème of killer ocean views – Ji Terrace By The Sea really has it all when it comes to wining, dining and beachfront swooning in the ‘Gu. This breezy and beautiful rooftop spot overlooks the ocean, crammed full of cultural flourishes, colourful design touches, and of course, some of the best Asian fusion food on the island. Try the signature Dragon of Ji sushi roll (a chopstick-treat of crispy ebi tempura, slick avocado slices and a creamy, slightly spicy sauce) and the Japanese-style salmon carpaccio. You’ll also want to sip on the smokin’ Coco Sexo (inspired by the volcanoes of Indonesia) and – our favourite – the Gin & Tea: tea-infused gin with green tea syrup.

13. Hippie Fish
Paying homage to the laid-back lifestyles of both Bali and the Mediterranean, Hippie Fish on Pererenan Beach is where it’s at for beachfront feasts, epic cocktails and endless ocean views. The menu itself is all about Mediterranean specialities and refined recipes. We say, come early for a rooftop sunset cocktail, before tucking in to the ocean-fresh cured sea bass, and the Spaghetti in Black – squid ink pasta served with bisque and baby calamari. Or, you can’t go wrong with swapping and sharing any of the grilled seafood from the market: try the salt and pepper fried calamari, the grilled octopus and the tuna crudo, served with a stracciatella salad. Pair it all up with a chilled white wine straight from Italy, and you’ve got yourself a spectacular evening feast, right by the seaside.

15. Kisik Lounge & Seafood Restaurant
Beachfront tables, tiki torches, an iridescent pool and a sunset backdrop – it doesn’t get more ‘iconic Jimbaran’ than that. Kisik’s menu concept mimics a seafood market given a luxe touch, AKA your favourite fine fish, served with Indonesian gado gado, Jimbaran bouillabaisse, steamed rice and Balinese veg. Wash it all down with the cliff bar’s signature cocktails, like the Watermelon Sling (vodka base with fresh watermelon) or spice it up with the Spicy Sea (dry gin with red chilli).

16. Nelayan Restaurant
Grilled seafood in a chic, boho beach-shack on the white sands of Jimbaran beach? Count us in! Nelayan Restaurant’s ocean and earth inspired menu sees classic Mediterranean cuisine with Balinese influences. The kitchen uses seasonal ingredients and Indonesian spices while showcasing flawless French techniques. Start with a classic lobster bisque or Bedugul organic farm salad, then tuck into grilled local seafood marinated in Balinese sambal or a garlic basil paste. Not a fan of seafood? Try the restaurant’s signature roasted chicken, Ayam Panggang Jimbaran Puri. A true Jimbaran-style seafood restaurant, Hatiku serves up an authentic menu with a few twists we love. 24. Sundays Beach Club

25. Le Club 22
Break out the superlatives for this hidden paradise nestled at the bottom of south Bali’s dramatic sea cliffs. Le club 22 is a boutique beach restaurant at Karma Beach, with the whitest sand, bluest water and tropical-est of vibes (yeah we just made that word up). Adding to Karma Kandara’s never-ending list of outstanding and tropi-cool drinking dens, the restaurant dishes up Mediterranean-style grilled seafood and bites, while the adjoining Tiki Bar is all about high-end cocktails, carefully crafted by the resident mixologist using local ingredients and quality European spirits. 26. Roosterfish Beach Club
Quirky, fun and playful, Roosterfish was the first beach club to make a home on Bali’s famous Pandawa Beach – a shimmering stretch of white sand at the base of a dramatically-carved cliff. It’s the house beach club of Renaissance Bali Uluwatu (situated 10 minutes from the resort) and once you’re down on the sand, it’s a fabulous fusion of both land and sea (hence the name, Roosterfish) with fresh ingredients finding their way into the wood-fired pizzas, grilled seafood and icy cocktails from the swim-up pool bar. 28. Pizzaria
Sitting right on Sanur’s beachfront within the luscious grounds of Hyatt Regency Bali, Pizzaria is the only seaside Italian restaurant in Sanur, located right beside the coastal promenade. An upscale take on Jimbaran’s iconic toes-in-the-sand seafood barbecues, Fisherman’s Club is where you can soak up vast sea views, finger-licking food, and live entertainment – right on Sanur’s beachfront. It’s a premium dining destination at Andaz Bali, with fresh-from-the-net ocean delicacies on display over the weekend for you to pick your own and have it cooked your way. Located on the bright white sands of Sanur’s Sindhu Beach, Soul on the Beach is the family-friendly little sister to Shotgun Social. It’s perfect for kids that need to run and play in close proximity to the restaurant’s casual and relaxed dining area. And just like its urban cafe counterparts, the menu here is creative and wholesome, constantly evolving and complemented by a variety of daily specials. We love this spot for its menu of small plates, perfect to swap and share with friends or family.

31. Byrd House
Nestled right on Sanur’s stunning Segara Beach, Byrd House is a breezy pool club with vibrant Mediterranean vibes that the whole fam will love. You’re greeted by bamboo architecture, sleek lines and minimalist interiors, while the outdoor area is all about lounging by the pool. Bringing the kids? There’s also a fun playground with its own kiddie splash pool and treehouse. Having breakfast or brunch?
