Serangan Island Could Be Next Big Tourist Destination In Bali In 2024

Bali is a travel destination that is always growing and evolving.

From emerging tourism villages to huge new resorts, from hidden waterfalls to secret mangroves, there is always something new to discover on the Island of the Gods.

Bali’s Serangan Island is a little-known fishing community nestled between Tanjung Benoa and Sanur.

The small island is connected to the main island of Bali by the Serangan-Sakenan Bridge and is emerging as one of the next must-visit spots in Bali. The island can be reached within a 30-minute drive of Bali Airport.

Anticipating increasing tourist interest in 2024, officials are investing in sprucing up the fishing village to be ready for tourists.

The Denpasar Tourism Department has confirmed that they are funding the development of 52 kiosks or small beach shops to help create culinary tourism outlets on the beachfront.

The plan is to manage Serangan Island as a culinary food destination similar to the setup in Jimbaran.

The resort of Jimbraran, which sits on the northwestern tip of the Bukit Peninsula, is loved by international tourists for its beachfront seafood restaurants, cafes, and grills.

Serangan Island has a huge amount of tourism potential. Indonesia’s Minister for Tourism and Creative Economies visited the village earlier this year.

Minster Sandiaga Uno described his visit to Seranagan Island as ‘memorable’ and ‘Instagrammable’, both important metrics for the modern tourist.

In fact, Serangan Island was listed as one of the top 75 tourism villages in Indonesia this year and is quickly becoming popular amongst domestic tourists who want to see what their Tourism Minister was so openly praising.

The Head of the Denpasar Tourism Office, Luh Putu Riyastiti, confirmed to reporters that Special Allocation Funds (DAK) have been awarded to Serangan Village to build the new beach cafes.

Riyastiti also confirmed that funding will be used to provide training to the local community and people who want to work in the tourism industry.

Training will include HR management, tourism information services, and digital marketing.

Seranagan Island is perfectly placed to become the new seafood capital of Bali. Overlooking the ocean and boasting stunning sunsets, Serangan is surrounded by some of the best fishing waters in Bali.

The island is also home to a turtle conservation center.

This is another key attraction that leaders hope will help bring more tourists to the area.

The presence of the turtle conservation center on Serangan Island is hoped to help establish sustainable tourism in the village right from the get-go.

Sustainable tourism, as well as culturally respectful tourism, is the aim of the game for leaders in Bali in the coming months and years.

Tourists looking to experience a really authentic, laid-back, and accessible destination in Bali will be delighted with Serangan Island.

Accommodation on the island is affordable; almost all are locally owned and operated.

Serangan Turtle Island Homestay is the accommodation of choice for many tourists heading to the island.

The homestay-come-hostel is a welcoming and relaxed place to stay and serves up some of the finest seafood in the area.

It’s clear that as Serangan Island gets put on the tourist map, more villas, guesthouses, and hotels will pop up around the place.

For tourists seeking an affordable and quiet place to stay in Bali, Serangan Island could be a great option.

It is perfectly situated between the fun and games of Tanjung Benoa, Bali’s premier water sports playground, and the luxurious soft sands of Sanur.

Day trips to the arts and culture capital of Bali, Ubud, are easily arranged from Serangan Island or to destinations that are also emerging on the tourist map like Sideman Village.
