An official from the Covid-19 Handling Task Force has admitted that most quarantine facilities in Denpasar have almost reached their maximum capacity.
The Spokesman of Denpasar Covid-19 Handling Task Force, I Dewa Gede Rai, confirmed that the surge in Covid-19 transmission over the last few weeks had caused most appointed quarantine facilities in Denpasar to near full capacity.
“Our quarantine facilities in Denpasar has reached 90 percent of their capacity today,” Gede Rai said on Wednesday (9/2). He also explained that Denpasar recorded 986 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday alone.
However, Gede Rai clarified that most active Covid-19 cases in Denpasar are patients with mild symptoms. They also recorded a good amount of recoveries.
Regardless, the officials plan to appoint several hotels within the city as additional quarantine facilities.
Several other regions such as Badung, Gianyar and Tabanan face similar challenges, as Omicron cases continue to surge in those areas.
According to data from Bali provincial government, a total of 2,556 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed on Wednesday (9/2), causing the government to increase restrictions.
