Bali Vice Governor, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati (Cok Ace) has confirmed that almost 50% of Bali residents have received the Covid-19 vaccine.
Cok Ace said that over 2 million residents in Bali from a total population of 4.32 million in 9 different regions across the island have received the vaccine. “We’re really thankful to hear this good news, and in accordance with the WHO’s standard, we could potentially achieve herd immunity once we distribute the vaccine to at least 70% of our population, so we’re almost there.” Cok Ace said on Wednesday (2/6).
Cok Ace explained that Bali is required to distribute the Covid-19 vaccine to at least 3 million of Bali residents to achieve herd immunity. Meanwhile the Secretary of Bali Covid-19 Handling Task Force, I Made Rentin confirmed that according to the latest data, 2,686,370 residents have received the vaccine as of Thursday (3/6). “1,325,407 residents have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and the other 724,324 residents have completed the second dose of vaccination as of today (3/6).” Rentin said.
Rentin explained that the officials have been aiming to distribute the Covid-19 vaccine to medical workers, senior citizens, public service officers and public residents. Despite the rapid Covid-19 vaccine distribution, Rentin still reminds the people to keep complying with prevention protocols. “Despite this achievement on our vaccination program so far, we still need to comply with prevention protocols such as wearing face masks, keeping our hands sanitized and reducing our mobility to avoid new transmissions.” Rentin concluded.
