The Vice Minister of Health, Dante Saksono Harbuwono has confirmed that over 90% of senior citizens in Bali have been vaccinated.
During a seminar that he attended at Grand Inna Bali Beach Sanur on Thursday (17/6), Dante appreciated the achievements of the Bali provincial government with distributing the Covid-19 vaccine to their senior citizens on the island. “This event was in appreciation of the achievements of the Bali provincial government in distributing the Covid-19 vaccine. In addition we also remind the remaining senior citizens the importance of supporting the vaccination program.” Dante said.
He explained that senior citizens are one of the top priorities in distributing the Covid-19 vaccine in Indonesia, second to medical workers. Bali is also one of the provinces in Indonesia with the highest success in distributing the vaccine to its residents. “Among all the provinces in Indonesia, Bali is the only area that has distributed the Covid-19 vaccine to 93% of the senior citizens across the island,” Dante added.
Apart from Bali, the Health Minister also gave the reward to other provinces such as Riau, East Java, Jogjakarta, Central Borneo and Central Java. However, Dante admitted that the main problem of distributing the vaccine to senior citizens is their ability to attend the vaccination site themselves, so he appreciated the idea of the Bali’s provincial government to visit the homes of each Bali senior citizen in order to solve this problem. Meanwhile, he also assured that preparation stages have taken place in all the hospitals in Bali to handle a potential increase of Covid-19 cases by providing enough isolation rooms and proper equipment.
