As plans to reopen the border arise, the Government of Indonesia has outlined new entry protocols and screening measures for international travelers.
During an official visit in Tokyo on Friday (5/12), The Coordinator of Maritime and Investment Minister, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, expressed that he does not want to rush the reopening process without first ensuring that Bali is safe from Covid-19.
The Minister stated that the government would require an antigen test from every visitor entering Indonesian borders.
“We will also facilitate self-isolating accommodations at the government’s expense” said Luhut. He added that he is committed to provide better health facilities, world class hospitals and collaboration with leading medical labs in Japan.
Meanwhile, Bali is still in recovery from the pandemic which began more than 10 months ago. As an island heavily reliant on international tourism, Bali is facing a financial crisis.
The Provincial Government is trying to combat the situation by adopting preventive measures such as face masks, sanitizing, temperature checking, and disinfecting.
Additionally, a Clean Health and Safety Environment (CHSE) certificate must be attained by operating hospitality businesses to verify the government health and safety standard. With these measures in place, Bali hopes that The Central Government will consider reopening the border in the near future.
