Bali Governor I Wayan Koster has claimed that Bali has entered an endemic phase as Covid-19 cases significantly drop.
During a meeting with Bali Senators on Thursday (31/3), Koster was optimistic that Bali would soon enter an endemic phase as Covid-19 cases have significantly gone down.
“Although the WHO is the only organization that is authorized to change the pandemic status, I think Bali has begun to enter that phase already,” Koster said on Thursday.
Koster explained that the active Covid-19 cases in Bali as of Wednesday (30/3) were only 40 cases, with 30 recoveries and zero deaths from Covid-19.
“The Omicron transmission reached its peak on February 9th 2022 with 2,556 cases, and the transmission has gone down to only 40 cases as of March 30,” Koster added. Koster also claimed that Bali had distributed the Covid-19 vaccine booster to over 50.3 percent of its total residents.
The reopening to international travelers, including the visa on arrival program, the zero quarantine policy, and resumed international routes, does not negatively impact the Covid-19 transmission on the island.
“It has been proven that there is no increase Covid-19 transmission despite the implementation of the visa on arrival program and the zero quarantine policy for international travelers, so we can continue with them,” Koster concluded.
