Stylish and Convenient Charm
Cherry Pepper Ubud welcomed us with its stylish and cozy charm, a two-storey open-air restaurant that truly stands out with its wooden deck-style architecture. Nestled just across the renowned Ubud Art Market, its location couldn’t be more convenient. After parking at Ubud Central Park and taking a quick five-minute stroll, we were immediately drawn to the restaurant’s relaxed yet vibrant ambiance.
Global Flavor, Local Vibes
The casual dining vibe of Cherry Pepper perfectly pairs global flavors with local touches, offering an irresistible mix of international dishes crafted to suit diverse palates. As we settled in, we couldn’t help but notice how the warm and inviting atmosphere enhanced our dining experience. Cherry Pepper has definitely nailed the perfect spot for any occasion, whether it’s a casual lunch or a cozy dinner.
We kicked off our meal at Cherry Pepper Ubud with the Tortilla de Gambas, a fantastic snack that delivered a delightful blend of flavors. The sautéed prawns, avocado, cheese, and corn were wrapped in a soft flour tortilla, offering a delicious balance of creamy, crunchy, and umami notes. Next, we moved on to the signature Cherry Pepper Platter, an incredibly fresh and healthy lunch option packed with prosciutto, kalamata olives, artichokes, capsicum, pickled pepper, cucumber, and feta, all drizzled with a mint mayo yogurt—a refreshing and light choice.
For the mains, the Sate Ayam Madura stood out as a beautifully presented dish, featuring East Java marinated chicken leg satay paired with peanut sauce and ‘lontong’ rice cake. Grilled to perfection and served on a mini traditional griller, the satay was succulent and flavorful. We also enjoyed the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which combined breaded crispy chicken with a spread of sriracha mayo and slaw on toasted sourdough, accompanied by crispy potato fries—a hearty and satisfying option. To wrap up the meal, we indulged in the Mango Cheesecake, a mild and creamy dessert with fresh mango compote and a tasty coulis, the perfect sweet finish.
Cherry Pepper also offers a variety of other delightful menus with local touches, including Mie Goreng Babi—Indonesian-style fried noodles with succulent crispy pork meat—and Pepes Ikan Kemangi, a traditional dish consists of Barramundi fish wrapped in banana leaves, then steamed and grilled, providing a uniquely aromatic and flavorful experience. This dish is served with fragrant yellow rice (nasi kuning), making for a complete and satisfying meal. Every dish we tried was delicious and properly cooked, and we have to give kudos to the chef for the impeccable execution of each dish on the menu.
Cherry Pepper also shines in its drinks menu, and we were delighted by the signature cocktails. We especially loved the Ubud Bliss, a refreshing blend of Smirnoff vodka, kaffir lime, cranberry juice, sugar, and sparkling wine—a perfect match for the tropical Ubud setting. For those who prefer a non-alcoholic option, the Tropicoco mocktail was a sweet and tangy delight, blending coconut water, kaffir lime, orange juice, and honey.
