Sandiaga confirmed that Bali’s economy could potentially be permanently damaged. “According to the data that I received, Bali’s economy is still deeply affected by the current situation in the second quarter of 2021, it didn’t show any difference in comparison with our first quarter,” Sandiaga said during a press conference on Monday (14/6).

Sandiaga explained that the central government through the Tourism Minister has been trying to revive the economy by implementing several programs in order to prevent further damage. “I hope the tourism and creative economic sector that participate inside the Bali Tourism Board can support the government’s efforts by executing and implementing all the programs to reactivate the tourism industry in Bali.” Sandiaga added.   Bali Another Day, Another Adventure♪Play Video

He also said that the central government has been preparing a perfect plan to implement several programs such as an International Travel Arrangement and the Work From Bali Program (WFB) in the near future. “The preparation stage of the travel arrangement and WFB program is about to come to an end before finally implementing them by the end of July 2021” Sandiaga concluded. However, Sandiaga admitted that the enthusiasm of domestic tourists to visit Bali has increased in 2021 as Bali Ngurah Rai Airport has been receiving around 7,000 visitors each day. Despite the increase of domestic tourism, Bali still reported a 9.8% decline in its economy during the first quarter of 2021.
