The Indonesian central government has finally decided to start allowing the Bali Airport to start receiving international visitors by October 14th 2021.
Despite extending the partial lockdown until October 18th 2021 in Bali and Java, the central government through the Maritime and Investment Coordinator Minister, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan announced that the Bali Ngurah Rai International Terminal will start receiving international visitors by October 14th 2021 without needing to travel through the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta.
“Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport will be reopened by October 14th as long as it meets several Covid-19 prevention requirements such as proper quarantine protocols, sufficient testing and of course sanitization.” Luhut said during a press conference on Monday (4/10).https://56b1e0d3b007c71af01d3d59036b85fd.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html
He explained that each visitor is required to show proof of a hotel reservation to undergo 8 days of quarantine at their own expense. However Luhut hasn’t mentioned further details regarding which countries will get first access onto the island when the policy is implemented in the near future. Meanwhile the Tourism and Creative Economy Minister, Sandiaga Uno stated that the government will allow any kind of international visitors except repatriation flights for foreign workers. “We still have several things to consider before finalizing this policy on October 14th such as testing methods, quarantine details and determining the countries that will have access to the island.
Apart from the international tourists, business men/women and expats who plan to go back to Indonesia will be able to gain access to the island when this policy is active.” Sandiaga said during the Weekly Press Briefing on Monday (4/10).
Before implementing this program, Sandiaga will reassure all the preparation stages of the medical facilities and the insurance policies for international visitors are ready to go across the island, especially with the upcoming G20 conference that will be held in Bali in November 2021. “We have to prepare many things, because most of the activities of the G20 conference in November will be centralized in Bali.” Sandiaga concluded.
