The Head of the Denpasar Police Department, Kombes Pol Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, confirmed that Kuta Beach would stop receiving visitors before midnight on New Year’s Eve.

“Following the Home Affairs Minister’s Instruction Number 66 and Bali Governor’s Decree Number 30 Year 2021, we will impose the 11:00 pm curfew on New Year’s Eve,” Jansen said on Tuesday (28/12). This is to avoid any large gathering on the beach area.

However, Jansen stated that both visitors and local vendors are still allowed access to the beach earlier in the afternoon. Strict prevention protocols will be implemented.

Fireworks are also banned on New Year’s Eve as they might attract more people to the beach area. “Nobody is allowed to bring any kind of fireworks on the beach, including the local vendors. We will punish all violators,” Jansen added.

Despite being allowed to enter Kuta Beach, people must park their vehicles outside the Kuta area.

“A total of 1,146 officers along with local village authorities will be deployed to secure the Denpasar and Southern Badung District areas. They will enforce that everyone must go to the beach area by foot,” Kombes Pol Jansen concluded.
