The Head of the Indonesia Tourism Industry Union (GIPI), Ida Bagus Agung Partha Adnyana confirmed that an open letter was sent to the President to adjust the current travel requirements for international visitors. GIPI has recently proposed to the President to revise the entry requirements that have significantly affected the tourism sector that has struggled to thrive during the global Covid-19

“We want to accelerate this process, we have attended so many meetings with the government from both the ministers and central government, but we haven’t seen any positive result,” Adnyana said on Sunday (21/11). He explained that President must provide a soft loan program as a form of financial support for the dying tourism businesses in Bali.

Apart from that, Adnyana proposes the President completely close the border for international visitors rather than reopen it with such strict entry requirements that have caused the visitors to become reluctant to even visit the island. Instead, they’re going to other countries instead. “The tourism sector has collapsed because the government is only prioritizing the health sector and neglecting our economy. We’ve been suffering greatly since we don’t have international visitors as the majority of the Bali population is dependent on them.” Adnyana concluded.
