Residents in the Jembrana region were disappointed as authorities have run out of Covid-19 vaccines when they were scheduled to receive the second dose of Sinovac on Wednesday (4/8).
Several villages that were supposed to distribute the vaccine to residents on Wednesday such as Pohsanten, Budeng Perancak and Yehembang village had to postpone their schedule as they await another shipment of the Sinovac vaccine.
All the residents who came to the vaccination site were disappointed when they got sent home to wait for another appointment to complete their vaccination. Meanwhile the Head of the Jembrana Health Agency, I Gusti Bagus Ketut Oka Parwata admitted that the region has been running out of Covid-19 vaccines since Monday (2/8). “We postponed the distribution of the Sinovac vaccine to public residents in some of our villages in Jembrana because we are prioritizing children from the age 12 to 18 years old to receive the vaccine first.” Parwata said.
However, Parwata ensured that those people will receive the vaccine in the near future as the Bali provincial government has just confirmed that they will deliver 15,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine on Thursday (5/8). Parwata also said that Jembrana has distributed the vaccine to 88% of residents. “88% of our targets were already vaccinated, but I still want to remind the remainder of people to voluntarily visit the nearby vaccination site in their areas to achieve herd immunity in the Jembrana region.” Parwata concluded.
