The central government has decided to reduce the quarantine time for fully-vaccinated international travelers to 5 days.
During a virtual press conference, the Maritime and Investment Ministry coordinator, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, confirmed that the central government has decided to reduce the quarantine time for incoming international arrivals. This applies to both international visitors and Indonesian citizens who wish to gain access to the country.
However, this revised policy is only intended for travelers who have had their second dose of the Covid-19 vaccination.
“The current entry restrictions have successfully restrained the entry of Omicron in Indonesia. Hence, the government has decided to reduce the quarantine time only for Indonesian citizens and foreign visitors who have been fully vaccinated,” Luhut said on Monday (31/1).
Luhut also explained that travelers who have only completed the first dose of Covid vaccination are still required to undergo the 7-day quarantine at an appointed facility.
“According to our research, the incubation period of Omicron is 3 days on average, so those who have only received their first dose are required to undergo a 7-day quarantine,” Luhut added.
This policy was initiated to reallocate the government’s resources. The budget formerly directed towards the quarantine facilities can be allotted towards the isolation facilities in anticipation of an increase in asymptomatic Covid-19 patients.
