The Bali Provincial government has planned to start providing free Covid-19 PCR tests for its citizens in May 2021.
The Head of the Bali Health Agency, Dr. Ketut Suarjaya confirmed that the program was initiated as an effort to increase the tracing and testing program in order to reduce Covid-19 transmissions on the island. “This program is targeted for people who show symptoms of Covid-19 as well as people who had contact with someone who tested positive.” Dr. Suarjaya said on Monday (17/5).
He explained that they don’t put any limits on the amount of people who get tested each day. “Both Bali residents or temporary residents are welcomed to get the free PCR test, especially those who have come in contact with someone who has tested positive for covid.” Dr. Suarjaya added. He also said that the individuals who were tested positive would get immediate treatment and isolation in accordance with the government’s procedures in handling Covid-19 patients.
This program was scheduled to start operating in May 2021, which starts from 8:00 to 11:00am every morning. It will take place at the Health Laboratory of Bali Province located on Jalan Angsoka Number 12, Denpasar. “Each individual is required to show their ID upon arrival at the testing site. We really hope that we can prevent any more Covid-19 transmission in Bali.” Dr. Suarjaya concluded.
