An official from the Tourism Association has predicted that Bali will receive 20,000 domestic visitors during the upcoming holiday season.
The Head of the Indonesia Hotel and Restaurant Association for Badung, I Gusti Ngurah Suryawijaya, confirmed that according to the data, Bali is expected to receive quite an amount of domestic tourists during the year-end holiday season.
“Based on our data, we have already received over 13,000 domestic visitors this week. I predict that the number will rise to 20,000 during the Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations,” Suryawijaya said on Wednesday (15/12).
Bali hotel occupancy is expected to rise by 50 to 60 percent.
Suryawijaya also reminded the Bali tourism sector to implement strict prevention protocols to avoid creating a Covid-19 cluster. Nonetheless, he admitted that he intended to ask the government for leniency concerning the travel policy to attract international visitors soon.
“I’ll propose the government to revise their quarantine policy, especially for those who have tested negative from Covid-19,” Suryawijaya added.
He also proposed that the government reactivate the Visa On Arrival (VOA) implementation, as many tourists struggle to find a sponsor for their trip to the island. “The visa and the Indonesian direct flight policy must be revised in the near future, as airlines have become reluctant to carry only a few passengers,” Suryawijaya concluded.
