Bali Airport Increases Security Measures After Terrorist Attack In Sulawesi

The management of Angkasa Pura I Ltd from Bali Ngurah Rai airport has strengthened its security measures following a terrorist attack that occurred at a church in Makasar, Sulawesi.

The Stakeholder Relation Manager of Ngurah Rai Airport, Taufan Yudhistira said that the management team decided to strengthen the airport’s security as a precaution from a terrorist attack that recently occurred in Makasar on Sunday (28/3) as The Bali Sun reported yesterday

“These preventive measures were implemented to raise our awareness as Bali has learnt it the hard way from the incident that occurred in Kuta and Jimbaran many years ago that killed hundreds of innocent people,” Yusdhisira said.

A strict evaluation begins from the airport’s entrance where all the vehicles are being checked by the officers. The authorities from Police and Military officers will also check everyone who accessing all public areas including every terminal inside the airport facility.

Meanwhile, the President Director of Angkasa Pura I Ltd, Faik Fahmi confirmed that these measures were implemented to reduce the potential threat around the airport facility.

Officers are also constantly patroling the area around the airport while observing any suspicious activity.

“Apart from supervising the entrances, we are also monitoring the cargo terminal area, securing the airplane refueling depot, and observing all the sewage systems to ensure the safety of the facility” Fahmi concluded.

He also explained that the airport’s authority is actively communicating with police and military officers to identify any potential threat inside the airport.
