Three victims who were confirmed dead were already evacuated from the scene and transported to the nearest clinics in Bangli while the people who were badly injured were rushed to Karangasem hospital to receive medical attention. Other than the injured people, officials reported that 1,039 houses were damaged by the earthquake, causing thousands of people to lose their homes and have to stay in tents near their destroyed houses as they’ve become reluctant to leave their belongings and animals.

“We had been working hard to search for and rescue several people, so they could be transported to receive medical attention at the hospital.” Warsito said on Sunday (17/10).

The incident also caused a landslide in Trunyan Village Kintamani, causing a closure to the main access of the village as it was covered by rocks and debris from the mountain. Meanwhile the Head of Karangasem Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), IB Ketut Arimbawa admitted that many people have been donating food to the affected areas since the incident occured on Saturday.

“We’ve been coordinating the food aid distribution directly to the affected people in this area while cooperating with the police and military officers to set up tents for people who refuse to leave their damaged houses.” Arimbawa concluded.
