4 Bali Regions Are Still Considered As Red Zone Areas

The National Covid-19 Handling Task Force has announced that four regions in Bali are still considered as red zone areas due to a high transmission of Covid-19.

The Head of Military 163/Wira Satya, Brigadier General Husein Sagaf confirmed that Covid-19 transmissions in four regions in Bali such as Badung, Denpasar, Buleleng and Gianyar are still considered high. “According to the data that was recently released by the National Covid-19 Handling Task Force, these regions are still considered as red zone areas as Covid transmissions continues to surge.” Sagaf said on Thursday (15/4).

He was afraid that this situation might affect the plan to reopen the international travel corridor that is expected to open by July this year. He also admitted that many people have been caught violating prevention protocols while going to public areas. “This situation wouldn’t have happened if people were compliant with the protocols all the time, and I hope it won’t affect the reopening plan in near future as travelers might be reluctant to travel to red zone areas.” Sagaf added.

He also said that the increase of people’s activity recently might be the cause of the surge in cases, as physical distancing became impossible to carry out among the people. “I hope all the officers could be more strict in enforcing the protocols during their operation, to remind the people about the importance of following these rules.” Sagaf concluded. He was also optimistic that these four regions could reduce Covid transmissions when more people become aware of the impact of their negligence.
