To Limit the Spread of Coronavirus, Denpasar, Bali Officials Close or Limit the Hours of Operation for Local Business.
In its expanding effort to control the spread of COVID-19, the Municipality of Denpasar, Bali has published a circular memo signed by the Mayor (Surat Edaran Walikota Denpasar Nomor : 434 / 572 / DKIS / 2020) ordering the closing or limiting the opening hours of operations for entertainment centers, shopping malls, retail shops, convenience stores, public markets, traditional markets, hawker food centers, meeting halls, and hotels.
As reported by BeritaDewata.com, those businesses allowed to remain open, such as malls, retail shops, convenience stores, public markets, and traditional markets, are required to implement “physical-distancing” and close no later than 9:00 pm.
Meeting, reception venues, and hotels are not permitted to receive new bookings or host activities that will result in large crowds of people congregating in a single location and thereby fail to implement physical distancing. Meanwhile, entertainment businesses – such as theaters, karaoke, bars, and discotheques have been asked to close until the threat of contagion ends.
I Dewa Gede Rai, the spokesman for the City of Denpasar, confirmed on Friday, 27 March 2020, that guidelines published by the World Health Organization (WHO) have prompted the Municipal Government of Denpasar to undertake a wide range of measure to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Rai said that the Municipality was continuously looking for opportunities to “break the infection chain” for COVID-19.
Municipal health and enforcement officials are busily educating the public on the need for achieving a clean and healthy lifestyle, washing hands with soap, staying at home, and keeping safe distances from others.
